McKesson UK has today (Thursday 24th June) announced that AAH, the wholesale arm of its business, has been working in partnership with NHSE for the last seven months to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to pharmacies, doctors’ surgeries, hospitals and vaccination centres.
AAH delivery drivers have been covering an average of 14,000 miles to deliver 800,000 to 1.5 million vaccines in England per week.
Toby Anderson, CEO of McKesson UK, said:
“This is a moment to recognise the efforts of everyone involved in the vaccination programme – from frontline healthcare workers to the people who pick, pack, and deliver the vaccines. All these individuals have made a difference, and I’m proud that our colleagues have played a key role in supporting the country in its time of need. Each one of our delivery drivers, warehouse operatives, and specialist logistics colleagues have gone above and beyond to help protect our communities and support with this monumental task.
Between the NHS and its partners, this has been a fantastic team effort, involving hard work, determination and sheer grit. For that, we should applaud everyone involved. In the meantime, we will continue to use our expertise and capability in storing, transporting, and distributing medicines to support the UK’s efforts to vaccinate everyone in the UK in the coming months.”
