Celesio, a leading international wholesale and retail company, announces today that its subsidiary Sanova, a leading healthcare services company in Austria, has signed an agreement to acquire Menges Medizintechnik, a leading distributor of products for radiology and for the operating room. The acquisition is subject to clearance by the Austrian Competition Authority.
The addition of Menges will strengthen Sanova’s hospital market position in Austria, enabling customers to benefit from greater flexibility and more services.
Sanova, founded in 1946 and with a turnover above €160m and more than 130 employees, is part of the Herba Chemosan Group. Sanova operates for 70 years very successfully in the medical devices, pharma, OTC and pharma logistics segments of the Austrian healthcare market. In the medical devices division, Sanova is, with its leading products for pathology laboratory, point-of-care diagnostics, sonography and anaesthesia, a strong distributor with an excellent technical service team.
Menges, with its headquarters in Gallspach (upper Austria) and locations in Switzerland and the Czech Republic, was founded in 2003. With a turnover above €14m and currently more than 50 employees, Menges develops its business with products for the radiology, urology, pulmonology, anaesthesia, OR (operating room) and endoscopy sectors. With its strong, very dynamic service team, Menges is now a leading medical device distributor in Austria.
