Pharma Belgium opens new warehouse in Eppegem

Recently, McKesson Europe’s Belgian wholesaler officially started operations at the new Pharma Belgium distribution centre in Eppegem. The new warehouse is located right next to the highway between the capital Brussels and Antwerp, which is the country’s second biggest city. This new centre allows Pharma Belgium to upgrade its services to a higher quality level.

The new centre is replacing the warehouse Evere which was destroyed by a fire in November 2012. Pharma Belgium now has four warehouses in total. The distribution centre in Antwerp was closed and its activities have been transferred to the new centre. There are currently about 80 persons working in Eppegem.

Warehouse supports growth plans

“We have made it our priority to offer the best product availability as a standard. This investment, in a challenging market, is a strong signal. It is our ambition to grow and to develop our activities in Belgium, with the strong support of McKesson Europe. We want to deliver value to our patients, to our customers and our business partners,” says Philippe Lacroix, Managing Director of McKesson Europe’s Belgian businesses.

The new warehouse in Eppegem represents a top standard in the industry: Its automation rate is 80 per cent, 10.000 order lines can be processed per hour and 35.000 stock keeping units can be handled.

New website for customers

Besides the new warehouse, Pharma Belgium presented its new website, which allows among other things, to retrieve stock status and order taking. This way, customers can easily follow the status of their order on the internet – a great example of how Pharma Belgium is putting the customer first.

Hubert Olivier, Managing Director of OCP France, was also present to explain some innovative solutions in healthcare that McKesson Europe already provides in Belgium and in other countries. Moreover, Marleen Mertens, major of Eppegem, thanked Pharma Belgium for the important investment in the municipality.
