Employees from Celesio UK raised over £3700 for Alzheimer’s Society at their annual Stars in Their Eyes themed charity event.

The eventual winner was announced as local theatre enthusiast Kim Arnold who performed Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights. Kim, from Allesley, has worked at Celesio UK for five years in a number of roles.

The event was organised by the Celesio UK Charity Committee, which is made up of volunteers from the company’s head office. Jackie Rapley from Coventry, who is one of the volunteers, commented: “It was a great night and everyone had so much fun. It’s always fascinating to find out that people you work with every day have such impressive hidden talents.”

The Coventry based healthcare company, which includes LloydsPharmacy, has been an official partner of the charity since 2015 and in that time has raised over £200,000 to support people living with dementia.

Jackie continues: “We all know someone who has been affected by dementia – it’s a cause that’s close to so many people’s hearts. Everyone around our head office is passionate about changing lives and raising as much money for Alzheimer’s Society as possible. I’m always blown away by how generous our colleagues are.”

As well as raising money, Celesio UK is committed to supporting the Dementia Friends initiative which is all about raising awareness. This month they announced that over 10,000 employees have so far signed up to the movement.

The audience was treated to a performance by The Killerz, the UK’s number 1 tribute act for chart topping band The Killers. They offered to play for free after an appeal by the Celesio UK Charity Committee.
